Project Details

For my project, I choreographed a dance for the SUU student dance concert, Impact.  A great deal of time and energy went into the completion of this project, all of which was very worth it.

The beginning of my project began spring semester 2016 where I presented my choreographic idea to the dance faculty in an audition/interview setting.  The dance faculty then met and determined which of the presented choreographic ideas they felt had potential to be performed in the concert the coming fall semester.  Fortunately my ideas were selected and I was then able to move forward with my work.

Fall semester approached, and the first week of school the choreographers whose ideas were selected held auditions to select dancers to be in their pieces.  I selected three dancers and immediately began holding weekly rehearsals to create my piece.  I prepared each week for what each rehearsal would entail, and worked collaboratively with my dancers to create the finished product.  Throughout the semester I worked my lighting designer and my costume designer to find the best look that would be fitting for my choreographic vision.  As the concert approached we had several tech, dress and lighting rehearsals leading up to the opening of the show.

The show opened the first week of December and premiered for five nights and for one matinee.
